Hare Krishna Vaisnav tradition has been supporting value education at all levels. This education focusses on the right understanding of the wisdom passed down by the Lord Krishna, particularly the Bhagavad Gita. Many centuries has passed away already however, the true essence of this transcendental wisdom was rarely understood in its true sense, as Arjun understood it and applied. But now with the dawn of the world's most authentic presentation of the Bhagavad Gita As It Is version by Srila Prabhupada, imparting the value education based on this source of wisdom began.
Currently, in an organised way under the project; Gita Champion League, His Holiness Bhakti Caru Swami Maharaj begun imparting this wisdom which focusses not only on distributing the book, Bhagavad Gita Asi It Is, but also encouraging to put in test practically. In this project, the school children and university colleges in Madhyapradesh, India are given the Gita as a token to read it and exhibit the knowledge practically through tests and competitions. A reading exercise booklet with 1200 objective questions and multiple choises out of this edition of the Gita is prepared that involves students in six session of the course.
To begin with, each session drawas the attention of the readers into the following subject matter explained in the Gita by Srila Prabhupada.
The topics include:
1. Search for Happiness
2. Does God Exists?
3. Who Am I?
4. One God or Many Gods?
5. Why do Bad Things Happen usually?
6. Practical Spirituality.
These six topics covers only the first six chapters of Bhagavad Gita in the first phase. The readers are encouraged to provide answers to the given questions and the highest scorers will be recognised with a handsome prize.
Recently the project coordinator Nitai Chandra das from the Ujjain temple contacted the Vice Chancellor of the largest University of the state of Madhya Pradesh – Rajiv Gandhi University. This University has over 450 Colleges under its umbrella. When the organizers of the event met him, he was convinced about this project and suggested to conduct it under the “Value Education Program”. He was especially impressed by the fact that so many students from the prestigious IIT Indore as well as IIM Indore (which are the most elite Engineering & Management institutes in the country) are actively involved in the study of the Bhagavad Gita As It Is. The education minister of the state of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Lakshmikant Sharma ji who recommended this study in the university colleges appreciated the importance of instilling values in the younger generation.
