Missie van de Internationale Gemeenschap voor Krishna Bewustzijn

Op de globale nivieau furmuleerde Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada de volgende doelstellingen toen hij de ISKCON oprichtte in 1966 te New York. Naamhat is een onderwijs stelsel gebasieerd op de Vedische kennis. Dit maakt een deel uit ISKCON op d plaatselijke niveau. Zie het doel van de Naamhat hier. 1. Systematisch spirituele kennis onder de hele samenleving verspreiden en mensen onderwijzen in technieken voor het leiden van een spiritueel leven om de onevenwichtigheid van waarden in het leven tegen te gaan en zo tot werkelijke eenheid en vrede in de wereld te komen. 2. Het Krishna-bewustzijn verspreiden zoals dat geopenbaard is in de Bhagavad-gita en het Srimad-Bhagavatam. 3. De leden van de Gemeenschap dichter bij elkaar brengen en dichterbij Krishna, het Allerhoogste Wezen, om de leden en de hele mensheid zo te laten inzien dat iedere ziel een integrerend deel is van God (Krishna). 4. Onderwijs geven over en het bevorderen van de sankirtanabeweging, het gezamenlijk chanten van de heilige namen van God, zoals die in het onderricht van Heer Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu wordt geopenbaard. 5. Een heilige plaats van transcendentale activiteiten oprichten die gewijd is aan de Persoonlijkheid Krishna en die bedoeld is voor zowel leden als voor de hele samenleving. 6. De leden bijeen brengen om een eenvoudigere en natuurlijkere manier van leven te onderwijzen. 7. Tijdschriften, boeken en andere geschriften publiceren met het oog op het bereiken van de bovengenoemde doeleinden. Naamhat Vedic cultural Center identifies itself as a part of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness in order to make practical application of its global mission at the local level for the benefit of the public in the grass root level.  The founder of the ISKCON AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada gave a clear mission statement when he first established ISKCON in New York in 1966, as follows:  To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to society at large and to educate all people in the techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace in the world. To propagate a consciousness of Krishna (God), as it is revealed in the great scriptures of India, Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam. To bring the members of the Society together with each other and nearer to Krishna, the prime entity, thus developing the idea within the members, and humanity at large, that each soul is part and parcel of the quality of Godhead (Krishna). To teach and encourage the sankirtana movement, congregational chanting of the holy name of God, as revealed in the teachings of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. To erect for the members and for society at large a holy place of transcendental pastimes dedicated to the personality of Krishna. To bring the members closer together for the purpose of teaching a simpler, more natural way of life.  With a view towards achieving the aforementioned purposes, to publish and distribute periodicals, magazines, books and other writings.  For every celestial century, the Yuga, different types of Dharma or the constitutional duty is prescribed. Through that duty one gets leberation from the cycle of birth, disease, aging and death. For this century of kali yuga, sankirtan is prescribed as the Dharma. In satya yug one could meditate, in treta yug, one could perform fire sacrifice and in dwaper yug deity worship in temples was the dharma from which perfection one gets the liberation. But in this modern yuga, sankirtana is prescribed and taught by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu since 16th century, as told in the Bhagavad Gita by the lord . It is the best and joyfully performed by chanting: HARE KRSNA HARE KRSNA, KRSNA KRSNA HARE HARE, HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE
