The 527th appearance day anniversary of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu celebrated worldwide on 27th March 2013 remarks the commemoration of the dawn of the true revelations of Hinduism as taught by Him.
Hinduism presents no
more the belief and practices as described by Western authors or anyone who
believes in the same way as conceived in the West or by the caste conscious
brahamanas of the past. Hinduism, mainly its root the Vaisnavism, commonly known in the West as the
science of Krisna or Hare Krishna is the fountain head of the zenith for peace,
happiness, spirituality and love to every sentient beings, purely the love of
God. The practice of putting this
science, as it is universally applicable among any races and faith background, not
just for Hindus alone, has begon from the very time and palce in India when this country
was submerged in the midst of odds and edge of total extinction of this
science, the source of which are the Vedas. The rule of the Moslim and later
Britisch Emperors, mostly antagonistic to the Vedic culture was the cause. But what
has been illustrated in the Vedas, the words of supreme echoes in its own
length and proves itself unvanishable. As described in the Srimad Bhagavatam11.5.32 in the begining of the creation, the wave of this scientific revolution
bounced in manifolds. The poineers are; the Lord Krishna Himself, the cause of
all causes; appearing as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and his dearmost follower,
mainly Srila Prabhupada. They both rose up from Indian state of West Bengal and
shine the horizon of this wisdom on the entire world. It was forecasted in this verse:
krsna-varnam tvishakrishnam
sangopangastra-parshadam
yajnaih sankirtana-prayair
yajanti hi sumedhasah
sangopangastra-parshadam
yajnaih sankirtana-prayair
yajanti hi sumedhasah
Translation: krsna-varnam — repeating the syllables krishna; tvisa — with a luster; akrsnam — not black (golden); sa-anga — along with associates; upa-anga — servitors; astra — weapons; parsadam — confidential companions; yajnaih — by sacrifice; sankirtana-prayaih — consisting chiefly of congregational
chanting; yajanti — they worship; hi — certainly; su-medhasah — intelligent persons
In the age of Kali, intelligent
persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead
who constantly sings the name of Krishna. Although His complexion is not
blackish, He is Krishna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants,
weapons, and confidential companions.
APPEARANCE
OF LORD CAITANYA
It was 1486 in the month of Phalguna (Feb-Mar) Navadvipa-Mayapur vibrated with tumultuous sound of chanting of name of the God, Krishna, which
penetrated the entire material universes and heralded the appearance of Supreme
Personality of Godhead. It was lunar eclipse and everyone, even the most
impious and atheists who had never sang the name of Krishna, found themselves
going to Ganga and singing: Hari Hari, as if compelled by some imperceptible force. By
His own sweet will, the Supreme Lord, who incarnated as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
to inaugurate Harinam Sankirtan movement, appeared in the midst of the
loud chanting of His own names:
HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE
HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE
Lord Caitanya appeared in the
Yogapith where Srila Bhaktivinoda
Thakura identified and built a small temple in 1893. It was further rebuilt in 1906 at which time
he installed the Deities of Gaura-Narayana and His two wives, Laksmipriya &
Visnupriya. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura’s son and spiritual successor,
Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, the spiritual master of Srila Prabhupada built
the present temple in 1934 and inaugurated on Gaura-Purnima a year later.
Srila Prabhupada AC Bhaktivedanta
Swami, acknowledged by the Indian government as the most earnest spiritual vicar
ever seen, brought the teachings of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu to the West in 1969
as predicted earlier, engaging everyone interested, irrespective of the
backround rasing the society to the platform of peace, happiness, unity and
universal brother/sisterhood. It goes even beyound, towards spiritual
ecstacy and liberation from all problems of life and death.
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu enunciated
the essence of all the world religions. This essence is then distributed with
love and care to anyone, in the West by Srila Prabhupada through his institute;
ISKCON.
The essence of Christianity or the Bible is to love God. Hare Krishna
followers loves the God absolutely without any self motives, that you can see
in our centers. The essense of Islam or Koran is to serve God, and yes we do
serve God day and night selflessly to please the Lord Krishna. Lord Buddha’s
message is non-violence. Hare krishna are absolutely non-violent, they do not
eat meat, fish and eggs contrary to what many Buddhists like those in Bhutan do
eat voraciously all the animals.
If one follows the essence of the
religion or follow the footsteps of the stalwarts of these religions like Lord Jesus,
Lord Mohamad,Lord Buddha, Jehova and others, the latest Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu,
there will be peace in this world. A Britisch MP rightly expressed his
observations at the Manor fuction that if there is any religion that is truly working
for the peace and happyness of others, it is then Hare Krishna’s.
