The naamhat program of 20th October attracted the mind by the description of the glories of the devotees' gathering during the last cruise retreat, that was begun by His Holiness Bhakti Caru Swami Maharaj.
'Its the presence of the devotees of the Lord Krishna on this earth that compelled the earth to be maintained well', told one of the Swamis earlier. Its true that the Swamis are of ISKCON on whose munificiency the people in all most every countries today could taste the bliss of the Vedic wisdom and culture. It is very much enlivening to rethink the course of the retreat where many Swamis were present during the cruise retreat', said Yasoda Priya mataji from Belgium who described the entire course of the retreat.
One would relate the retreat as a vacation as it takes the group of about 200 devotees to different cities of different countries in Europe and then get into the ship that is rather titanic, but as the day begun with mangal ararti early in the morning followed by lectures, the entire crew appeared as an assembly of devotees engaged in love for each other.
Much of this retreat was covered by the state media and a report with videos can be seen in this blog. Listening to this special retreat was truly capturing, how nice it would have been to have actually participated. One has to qualify to get the chance to join such retreat since its spiritual and needs one to be spiritually elevated.
Fred prabhu who has contributed much with technical work for Radhadesh and in so doing is highly elevated further highlighted the essence of the Vedic culture- that it is above all means, a requisite for the happiness of the people. But people in general do not take it due to their prejudices and preconcieved notion that pushes themselves backward, leaving themselves in the corner of 'I' and 'My' egoistic choices. That is due to the bodily concept of life and factually lower as it is focussed to material objectivity.
Should one goes beyound this concept, then the real happiness can be found as we could see that in the life of the devotees. To engage in the loving service of the creator, the absolute Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna, is actually going beyound the religion. 'Its actually the proper engagement, a duty that is explained in the Bhagavad Gita, said Fred prabhu. Thus that engagement is necessarily not becoming Hindu or any other religious community. Its something going beyound that religious identity.
But fortunately this path of perfection is negatively understood by the mass of people and one would usully say; 'I do not want to chant Hare Krsna Mahamantra because I do not want to become Hindu or be a part of it'. This preconcived notion should be changed since the God is one, and that God is neither Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim or Christian, or Indian. Engaging in the loving service of the God is to elevate oneself beyound this religious identity. The program focussed on discussing on this area of understanding the Hare Krsna life style as prescribed in the Vedic literature.
