Liberation through Vedic wisdom was the focus

All human beings has the potential to liberate themselves from the cycle of enforced birth, aging, disease and death. Liberation is possible through learning about self, the original identity and developing the loving relations to the original supreme. For that purpose the learning the process revealed in the Vidic literature is necessary. Facilitating this process of learning, the Bhagavad Gita course held on 22nd January, in its second day,  focussed on understanding the self- jiva and the related process.   Here under a summary is given:

The Jiva (living entity), conditions – liberation - process

One who acts in Krsna consciousness, or acts in knowledge that aham brahmasmi is of course liberated from the very beginning; and the action itself, which is performed as a sacrifice for Krsna or Visnu, is itself the purifying process, purifying the consciousness of all the dirty things accumulated for millions and millions of births.

The process of devotional service after one is liberated from the material conditions. Therefore bhakti-yoga includes jnana-yoga.
The conditioned souls must try to follow the process of yajna by becoming Krsna conscious.

Jiva
When a jiva tattva becomes specifically empowered by the Lord, he is called saktyavesa avatara. Lord Buddha and Lord Jesus Christ were in this group of saktyavesa avatara..

The distinction between Supersoul and individual.
The Supersoul never will fall under the clutches of this illusory maya and the jiva soul has this tendency. So there is distinction, yet, the two, Supersoul and jiva.
The Soul is as the sunlight and the Sun are qualitatively the same.

Perfection of living entity.
When the jiva soul accepts the dictates of the Supreme consciousness Supersoul, only for the purpose of gratifying the senses of Krishna. This attitude of service is the perfection of the living entity. The individual soul is called as Krsna’s marginal energy.

The condition of the soul.
It is his consciousness that becomes absorbed in trying to enjoy the matter. Out of desire to lord it over, the jiva soul forgets that he is eternal, full of knowledge and full of bliss and identifies with the material energy. So it is the consciousness of the conditioned soul that is affected.

It is his determination to become Krsna Conscious that become weak or strong. By the influence of the modes of passion and ignorance he becomes weak and by the influence of the mode of goodness he becomes strong. But by the association with the pure devotee he becomes strongest.

The conditioned soul, subjected to four defects.
Lord Brahma is a conditioned soul means that due to his desire to become the creator of the material manifestation he had to take birth within the material world.
He has written Brahma-samhita which is pure Vaisnava literature describing the Supreme Personality of godhead.

The identification of Jiva.
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu gives the identification of jiva soul as the eternal servant of Krsna and is situated as marginal potency of the Lord based on the philosophy of acintya-bheda bheda-tattva.

As spirit soul or identical brahma, or jiva brahma is identical with the Supreme Brahma or the param brahma. In this sense jiva soul is abheda or non-different from the param brahma.

But on account of the param brahma being the supreme, the biggest, the identical brahma or jiva brahma being very minute, it is different from the param brahma.

The Jiva in the body.
There is the jiva in this body, but there are also jivas within the cells. Just like I am living within this apartment, but does it means that no other living entity can live here. There are so many ants, flies, bugs, they are also living within the apartment. Even in stool there are thousands of living entities.

Fact is that each and every living entity is covered by two kinds of bodies, one subtle and one gross. So the subtle body causes the living entity to take another gross body.

The beginning of his fall down.
In the Bhagavad-gita it is directly said that the mind is inferior energy in a subtle form, and soul, jiva, is superior energy.
When the soul becomes captivated for enjoying the material world instead of rendering service to Krsna, that is the beginning of his fall down. When the living being thinks himself to be the enjoyer, that is called false ego. His constitutional position is to serve Krsna. So this false egotism degrades him to pollute the intelligence and the mind.

The mind and intelligence of the soul.
These are already there in the soul, but in the conditional stage the same mind and intelligence become polluted as false egotism or enjoyer. The bhakti process is to purify everything.

The mind.
If the mind is purified, then things go on nicely in its original position.
If the mind is directly engaged at the lotus feet of Krsna, the senses automatically become engaged in Krsna’s service; and that is the liberated stage. Chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra is the direct process for curing the mind of all materialistic contamination. Take to this process and be happy, Hare Krsna.

Offerings to His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaj

4th April '12, the auspicious occassion of the Vyasa puja celebration in honour of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaj who has been dedicated to develop particularly Mayapur to Vedic planetorium city, His Holiness Bhakti Caru Swami humbly submits his intimate offerings  and glorification, here under . HH Jayapataka Maharaj I was very fortunate to have a long and intimate association with His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaja since I joined ISKCON. Undoubtedly he is one of the most exemplary leaders of ISKCON today. With the sincerity he is serving Srila Prabhupada is extremely praiseworthy. As a matter of fact ever since he met Srila Prabhupda he offered himself completely to his service and the way he is serving him till today is a wonderful example for all of us. In the early days in Mayapur there were not so many devotees. Therefore, we had the oportunity to have a very close relationship with each other. Although he was the leader of Maypur, he was very humble and carin

The time to harvest the spiritual and the material yeilds - Kartik

The auspicious month of Kartik, (8th October to 19th November) more popular known as the Month of Damodara, is here once again heralding the spiritually enlivening ‘Festival of Lights’. Its the month for harvesting material yeild from the corn, maize and barley field and also harvest the stpiritual wealth by devotional service to Damodar. Mother Yasoda bound little mischievous Krishna with ropes to the grinding mortar for having stolen butter and thus He came to be known as Damodara. The significance is in that the Lord of the Universe can be bound only by the rope of pure love. During thus Damodara month, devotees get the opportunity to personally offer Arati to Lord Damodara with ghee lamps and sing the very enchanting ‘Damodara astakam’, to receive the special mercy of the Lord. The Glories Of Kartik month “Pure devotional service to Me which, because it places Me under My devotee’s dominion, is very difficult to attain, is easily attained by following this vow in Mathura dur
