In this modern age, the problem of every kind are caused due to men's forgetfulness or ignorance of sin. What can be called as sin and why one should not commit sin is the issuse ignored in the modern academic pursuit. Ignorance or forgetfulness of this vital norm is the cause of all the problems, like terrorism, human rights violations, environmental pollution etc. In other words, people's disinterest in transcendental knowledge as mentioned truely in The Bhagavad Gita and such holy scriptures. This was discussed in the montlhly Vedic cultural program in the first month of the year. However one can be very sinful that accumulates through the the violation of natural laws and societal norms like killing, eating meat, illicit sex and hurting others which will eventually result to bad reactions- every action has equal and opposit reaction, as scientists say, getting bad reactioins will be quickly avoided if one believes and surrenders to the Lord Krsna. This has been explained in the Bhagavad Gita chapter 4. The transcendental knowledge explained here builds in men good qualities and God consciousness and will gradually refrain one from sinful activities.Explained here in short, in Cchapter 4 verse 36:
api ced asi papebhyah
sarvebhyah papa-krttamah
sarvam jnana-plavenaiva
vrjinam santarisyasi
TRANSLATION : Even if you are considered to be the most sinful of all sinners, when you are situated in the boat of transcendental knowledge, you will be able to cross over the ocean of miseries.
PURPORT : Proper understanding of one's constitutional position in relationship to Krsna is so nice that it can at once lift one from the struggle for existence which goes on in the ocean of nescience. This material world is sometimes regarded as an ocean of nescience and sometimes as a blazing forest. In the ocean, however expert a swimmer one may be, the struggle for existence is very severe. If someone comes forward and lifts the struggling swimmer from the ocean, he is the greatest savior. Perfect knowledge, received from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is the path of liberation. The boat of Krsna consciousness is very simple, but at the same time the most sublime.
Vedic culture, if appreciated and followed, builds peace in the natural way because it cultivates the knowledge to respect all sentient beings as the children of God. The more people become sinful, there will be problems on earth. Foregetfullness or disrespect of it is the cause that societies and nations are divided today.
