For the leading service to the auspicious body of Srila Prabhupada is HH Bhakti Caru Swami Maharaj awe-inspiring
'The principle of Sankirtan, as the future church of the world, invites all classes of men without distinction of caste, creed or clan to the highest cultivation of spirit. This church will extend all over the world and take place of all sectarian churches which exclude outsiders from the precincts of their mosque, church or temple'. - Bhaktivinode Thakur, 1896.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Jay Sridham Mayapur. The land of the Golden Avatar. The place where the Supreme Lord’s inconceivable pastimes took place. And the Global Headquarters of Srila Prabhupada’s International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
Festival season, and Kirtan Mela peaks in a frenzy of harinam sankirtan and ecstatic dancing – both in the temple and rocking on every street corner. Every few meters in this bustling Vedic city, we pay our obeisances to extremely elevated Vaishnava personalities.
Here, it was announced on 17th February 2015 that His Holiness Bhakti Caru Swami Maharaj was nominated and voted in by his whole GBC peer group to become the Second Vice-Chairman of ISKCON’s Governing Body Commission.
The protocol is as follows:
The GBC has more than 25 members, and is led by a 3-member Executive Committee – that is the Chairman, the First Vice-Chairman, and the Second Vice-Chairman.
Every February, at the Annual General Meeting of the GBC in Mayapur, the Chairman resigns and is replaced by the First Vice-Chairman … and then the latter’s place is taken by the Second Vice-Chairman, who’s seat is taken by a new nominee… and so on.
The new current Chairman is HG Praghosa Prabhu, and First Vice-Chairman is HG Sesa Prabhu.
This means that HH Bhakti Caru Swami Maharaj will be the Second Vice-Chairman from Feb 2015 to Feb 2016. - First Vice-Chairman from Feb 2016 to Feb 2017. - Chairman from Feb 2017 to Feb 2018.
Thus, Guru Maharaj will become Chairman of the GBC in a couple of years, for the second time - almost 30 years after he first served as the GBC’s Chairman (in 1989) - and 40 years after he joined ISKCON.
Maharaj is very much looking forward to serving Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON in this way over the next few years, with your continued support.
Maharaj has been one of the pioneers in fortifying ISKCON centers around the world and very effective in protecting and preserving those facing dilapidation. Of such great contribution was to save New Mayapur Dhaam in France and Bhaktivedanta Manor in UK. Srila Prabhupada described his esteem society ISKCON as his body and himself living in his books.
Meanwhile GBC has announced the approval for the Sanyasa order of life as desired by two disciples of Maharaj, His Grace Ganganarayan Das and Lilasukha Das.
The Sanyasa ceremony will be held on 5th March in Ujjain for Ganaganarayan and on 30th May for Lilasukha prabhu in Radhadesh.
