The blessings that should be. विजय दसमीको आशिर्वाद

The cultural dimension of the Vedic livelihood stresses to observe the auspicious days of the Vedic calendar like the Victory of the Lord Shri Ram against the demon king Ravan (this year on 14th October 2013). Celebrating this day calls naturally the unity among the families and neighbors. As the tradition goes, the worship of the nine forms of the Goddes Dura precedes this day and the offerings to the goddess like siblings of grains and flowers is shared with special blessings. The blessings are bestowed by the elderly persons to the youngsters, so everyone tries to be with the family. The blessings are bestowed to empower to become ideal person in this world and achieve the goal of life, ie to make one's return to the kingdom of God the life after. आयुः ध्रुवनरेश श्रियं दशरथे शत्रु क्षयं राघवे । ऐश्वर्यं नहुषे गतिश्च पवने मानं च जनकनरेश। 

शौर्यं शान्तनवे बलं हलधरे सत्यं च कुन्तिसुते। विज्ञाने विदुरे भवन्तु भवतां कीर्तिश्च नारायणे ।।

राजा उत्तनपदका पुत्र धुर्वको जस्तो आयु होस् तिम्रो, दशरथजीको जस्तो सम्पत्ति, भगवान श्री राम जस्तै शत्रुको नाश गर्नेवाला हुनु , नहुष राजाको जस्तै ऐश्वर्य। हावाको जस्तै सर्वत्र गति होस्, जनक राजाको समान सम्मान मिलोस् , शन्तनु पुत्र भीष्मको जस्तै शूरता होउ, बलरामजीको जस्तै बलबान हुनु , हुनु, कुन्तिपुत्र युधिष्ठिर जस्तै सत्यवादी, ज्ञान विज्ञानमा विदुरजी जस्तै हुनु , भगवान नारायणको जस्तै सर्वत्र कीर्ति फैलियोस्

Blessings                

निवसतु तव गेहे निश्चलासिन्धुपुत्री, प्रविशति भुजदण्डे कालिका वैरिहन्त्री । तववदनशरोजे भारतीभातीनित्यं, नचलतु तवचित्तं पादपद्मं श्रीकृष्णमुरारे ।।

तिम्रो घरमा समुद्र पुत्री लक्ष्मीको वास होस् तिम्रो दुइ बाहुमा साक्षात् शत्रुनाशिनी कालिका को निवास। होस् तिम्रो मुखमा सरस्वतीको निवास, सदा सर्वदा तिम्रो चित्त श्रीकृष्णको चरणकमलमा रहिरहोस् ।

(आशिर्वादमा अश्वथामाको आयु जस्तो हवस किन भनिएको हो? जस्लाई श्रीकृष्णले यस मर्त्यलोकामा सधैभरि निधारको घाउको पिढित भएर बस्नु परोस भनेर स्राप दिनु भएको थियो- मतलब जस्लाई मुक्ति छैन।

अनि फेरि दुर्योधनको जस्तो सम्मान मिलोस भनेको किन होला हाम्रो नेपाली परम्परामा? जुन दुर्योधनले गर्दा माहाभारत युद्ध भयो र उस्को तेत्रो सम्मान त थिएन पनि। ) के आजसम्म अलिकति गलत आशिर्वाद भएरै हामी नेपाली देशविदेश जाहितहिँ पिढीत भएका त हैनैा? यास्ता प्रश्नका वैद्धिक पद्यतिबाट जवाब नपाईन्जेललाई मैले उचित वैकल्पिक नामोच्चारण यो आशिर्वादमा हेरेकोछु।

 May your age be like that of dhruva maharaj,

wealth like of Dasarath.

May you be the destroyer of enemies like Lord Ram, opulence like that of Nahus,

speed like that of the wind,

respected like Janak maharaj.

May you be courageous like the son of Santanu- Bhisma,  strength like that of Bhim,

and trutfulness like the son of Kunti, Yudhisthir

and expert in science and practical applications like Vidur, and

like Lord Narayan in the matter of  fame.

In your home, may the daughter of Ocean, Lakshmi come to reside.

In your hands let there be strength like that of Kali.

Let mother Saraswati stay in your voice and your mind always remain in the shelter of the Lord Murai, Sri Krishna.

While blessing the anyone in the family and friends, a mixture of curd and colorful rice grains and flowers which was offered to the God and Goddesses is placed on the forehead of the receiver. Then the sumptuous feasting continues till the full moon.
