23 Dec.12. To commemorate the Holy Srimad Bhagavad Gita Jayanti today at home the following process is receommended as the minimum standard.
Take bath and wear clean cloths. Then also put sri tilak.
Then begin the worship of the Gita in this way:
1) Perform acaman
2) Offer Tulasi manjari plus sandalwood paste to Bhagavad-gita
3) Offer fragrant flower garland to Bhagavad-gita
4) Offer milk sweet plus Tulsi to Bhagavad-gita
5) Offer arotika (incense, ghee lamp, conch water) to Bhagavad-gita
6) Do parikrama of Gita book
7) Glorify Gita with following prayers (see below)
8) Chant the mahamantra: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare. Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.
9) Perform the aarati for Bhagavad Gita As It Is with this prayer. For this aarati, prepare the set with one pancabati- ghee lamp in fuve, dhup, arghyam, puspa, bastra, chamar and pankha, ie inscense, lamp, water, flower, cloth, yak's tail and peacock fan. Using this aarati should be done with these prayers.

sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja

"Give up all varieties of religiousness, and just surrender unto Me; and in return I shall protect you from all sinful reactions. Therefore, you have nothing to fear." (Bg. 18.66) Thus the Lord takes all responsibility for one who surrenders unto Him, and He indemnifies all the reactions of sin.

In this endeavor there is no loss or diminution, and a little advancement on this path can protect one from the most dangerous type of fear." (Bg. 2.40) If one reads Bhagavad-gita sincerely and seriously, then all of the reactions of his past misdeeds will not react upon him. In the last portion of Bhagavad-gita, Lord Sri Krsna proclaims:

mal nirmochanam punsam jal snanam dine dine sakrid geetam 'bhasi snanam sansar mal nashnam | By bathing in water, day to day dirt of the body is washed away. By bathing even once in the holy water of Geeta, the whole mundane dirt is washed away | |
geeta sugeeta kartavya kimanyaih shastra vistraih ya svayam padmana bhasya mukh padma dvinih srita | Geeta should be cheerfully sung; of what avail is the study of other elaborate scriptures for Geeta has emanated from the lotus lips of Lord himself | |
bharata mrit sarvasvam vishnor vaktra dvinih sritam geeta gangodakam peetva punar janma na vidyate | Geeta, being the immortal words of Lord Vishnu, is the nectarine essence of the whole of Mahabharata. One who partakes the Ganges-like water of Geeta, for him there is no rebirth | |
sarvop nishado gavo dogadha gopal nandanah partho vatsah sudhir bhokta dugdham geetam mritam mahat | The Bhagavad-gita is just like a cow, and Lord Krsna, who is a cowherd boy, is milking this cow. The milk is the essence of the Vedas, and Arjuna is just like a calf. The wise men, the great sages and pure devotees, are to drink the nectarean milk of Bhagavad-gita. | |
ekam shastram devakiputra geet meko devo devakiputra eva eko mantras tasya namani yani karma payekam tasya devasya seva | In this present day, man is very eager to have one scripture, one God, one religion, and one occupation. So let there be one common scripture for the whole world--Bhagavad-gita. And let there be one God only for the whole world--Sri Krsna. And one mantra only--Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. And let there be one work only--the service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. |
